The dial of this clock is composed of a sequence of constantly increasing wooden frames, where each one is stuck in the next size while rotated 15 degrees. Each frame bites into the bigger one halfway and this all give the dial a strange whirl look - hence the name.
The grain direction of each frame rotates together with the frame, and this gives a exciting shading effect on the surface: some frames look lighter while others darker - however all the frames bear the same color (see image: Whirl - right side).
The dial is laser cut from a single 6mm plywood board. Polishing is made by hand. The surface is treated with flax oil.
The movement is non-ticking, runs with 1pc. 1.5V AA type battery. Hands are black.
